Beware, Danger Fructose in sugar

The intake of excess sugar in the body turned out to not only have an impact on weight gain. A study published in the journal Cancer Research shows that eating too much sugar derived from sucrose may increase the risk of developing tumors, breast cancer, and its spread.

American Chemical Society explains, table sugar, technically known as sucrose, is formed from a combination of fructose and glucose. Unlike the natural sugars derived from fruits, table sugar contains mostly high fructose corn syrup are added to improve the taste, appearance, and texture.

Fructose differently than glucose alone. When glucose can be broken down by almost every cell in the body to convert into energy, according to the Harvard Medical School fructose can only be broken down by the liver cells.

"We found that sucrose intake in mice led to tumor growth when compared with the non-starch sugar," said one of the authors of the study, Lorenzo Cohen, a professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. "

Many patients say no matter what they eat until they are diagnosed with cancer. So this research is very important.

In the study, tumors and cancers grow bigger and more rapidly in mice that received fructose more. Cohen explains, fructose seems that encouraged greater than the tumorigenic process glucose.

To avoid the negative effects of sugar, The American Heart Association recommends the consumption of added sugars such as table sugar limited to no more than about 30 grams, or about 6 teaspoons per day for women and 45 grams or 9 teaspoons for men.
